Pesaro In Transition
Design: Marta Hervás Oroza for New Generations
Project curators: Gianpiero Venturini, Enrico Zampa
Printing: Laimprenta GC

The railway line crossing Pesaro extends for about 12 kilometres, acting as one of the city’s main longitudinal traces. In the coming decades, its planned relocation inland, part of the Adriatic High-Speed Rail, will trigger profound transformations, opening a rare moment of redefinition for the city’s landscape. Pesaro in Transition invites us to look beyond the railway as mere infrastructure, to perceive it instead as a living system: a continuous public realm, a fertile ground for collective practices, and a platform for nature, energy, data, and life to intertwine. Through this project, Moli and New Generations propose a curatorial journey into the identity of Pesaro, an evolving process that weaves together local and international perspectives in a shared act of imagination and exchange. The programme unfolds through texts, open calls, and invited contributions, envisioning new narratives for four key areas of the city.

Design of a publication showcasing the proposals submitted by the guest contributors and the selected open call participants. The book acts as a compilation of ideas, a constellation of points of view that together help shape possible futures for the decommissioned railway line crossing Pesaro. The preface, with texts written by curators Enrico Zampa and Gianpiero Venturini, introduces the reader to the geographic and historic context of the town, followed by the four proposals developed by architecture studios across Europe, presented in a format that combines text and diagrams across multiple page spreads. Finally, the open call section features a selection of twelve non-context specific projects that respond to the various issues addressed in the book, as well as a closing section containing the English translations of the texts found throughout the publication.

The editorial design is created taking into account New Generations’ visual identity, aiming to become a part of the firm’s library, as well as to unify the variety of projects and proposals showcased in the publication. The cover design, inspired by the outlines of the different zones in the area, includes a white screen print of the project title, over recycled paper.
