The redesign and the public backing of the Save Stephen’s Green campaign have brought the building to people’s attention, posing questions about conservation: what is historic, what is worth keeping, and what are we willing to let go of in the name of progress and development? This article examines how the redevelopment of Stephen's Green Shopping Centre has prompted a reassessment of what qualifies as heritage; as well as the role active participation plays in shaping our built environment.

In 1968, Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown carried out an analysis of Las Vegas that resulted in the publication of Learning from Las Vegas. Their studio explored commercial vernacular architecture and the trends observed in it. This Thesis aims to revisit their original analysis, examining how the city and its architecture have evolved over the past five decades, through the use of U2’s residency at The Sphere as a case study. Structured in three acts, pertaining to urban, building and scenography scale, respectively, the Thesis analyses Las Vegas as a living lab for architectural innovation, where scenography and show take on a central role in configuring the urban space.
